Whey protein is a natural protein found in milk, filtered and dried into a powder that’s rich in essential amino acids, especially leucine, which plays a key role in muscle repair, energy, and overall health. Unlike most plant proteins, whey contains all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete protein that’s easy for your body to digest and absorb.

However, not all whey is created equal. Many whey proteins on the market come from grain-fed dairy herds overseas and can contain unwanted additives, fillers, or poor-quality processing methods. Our whey comes from 100% grass-fed Australian dairy, minimally processed to retain its natural nutrition and creamy taste. Clean, simple, and quality you can trust.

Our highly bioavailable, grass-fed whey protein concentrate provides a complete source of essential amino acids to support energy, appetite control, muscle health, and overall wellbeing.

    Studies show Whey Protein:

    • Helps build and maintain lean muscle
    • Supports faster recovery after exercise
    • Keeps you fuller for longer and helps manage cravings
    • Supports steady energy and focus throughout the day
    • Promotes healthy metabolism and weight management
    • Provides immune-supporting compounds naturally found in whey
    • Is easy to digest and highly bioavailable

For best results, consume 1 serve (30g) per day. To reduce plastic we don’t use a scoop so simply mix 4 heaped tablespoons.

Shake it: Mix 1 serve (30g) with 250–300ml of cold water or milk of your choice. Shake well and enjoy post-workout or as a high-protein snack.

Blend it: Add to smoothies with banana, berries, nut butter, or oats for a more filling option.

Bake it: Use in pancakes, muffins, or protein balls to boost the protein content of your favourite recipes.

Mix it: Stir into yogurt, porridge, or overnight oats for an easy protein boost.

Drink it: Add to your coffee for a creamy protein boost! Here’s how to do it right:

    • Let your coffee cool slightly (around 60–65°C) before adding whey. If it’s too hot, the protein can clump or curdle.
    • Mix your whey protein with a small amount of room temperature liquid first (e.g. a bit of milk or water) to make a smooth paste, then stir into your coffee.
    • Use a Chief frother to give it a delicious creamy foam!

Please note: This guidance is based upon a 15ml tablespoon which is the international standard. Most tablespoons in your kitchen drawer will be 10ml to 15ml. In Australia, a standard measuring spoon for tablespoon is 20ml, so please use 2 flat tablespoons if you’re using a 20ml spoon. Note that 15ml is not 15g of powder and 20ml is not 20g of powder, weight depends on the density of what’s being measured. For more information see our FAQ.

Whey protein concentrate from Australian grass-fed cows

A complete protein naturally high in leucine and BCAAs, the building blocks for muscle repair and growth

    Concentrate, not isolate

Less processed than an isolate, so it keeps more of milk's natural bioactive compounds

Anyone who wants a chocolate protein for muscle and recovery, made with real cocoa and sweetened with monk fruit, no added sugar. Good around training and across the day, for people who are fine with dairy.

Whey is fast digesting and high in leucine, so it supports muscle repair when you use it around training and across the day to reach your protein target. Recovery and fullness are noticeable fairly quickly. Muscle growth itself comes from training, enough total protein and time, not from the powder on its own.

Whey is a dairy protein, so it contains milk and is not suitable for anyone with a dairy or milk allergy, and not for vegans or vegetarians. It is a concentrate, so it contains lactose and may not suit those who are lactose intolerant. It is a protein supplement to support training and a balanced diet, not a meal replacement or a weight loss product on its own.

Australian grass-fed whey protein concentrate (milk) 88.1 per cent, alkalised cocoa 8 per cent, raw cacao powder 2 per cent, acacia gum, monk fruit extract.

    FAQs

Is whey better for me than collagen?

They do different jobs. Whey is a complete protein high in leucine, so it is the one for building muscle and recovering from training. Collagen is for skin, hair, nails and connective tissue. Many people use both.

Does it contain dairy or lactose?

Yes. Whey is made from milk, so it contains dairy and lactose. It is not suitable for a dairy or milk allergy, and as a concentrate it may not suit everyone who is lactose intolerant.

What is the difference between concentrate and isolate?

Chief uses whey protein concentrate. A concentrate is less processed than an isolate and keeps more of milk's natural bioactive compounds. An isolate is higher in protein per gram and lower in lactose. Chief chose concentrate for the fuller nutrient profile.

    When should I take it?

Around training is a common choice because whey digests quickly, but the bigger factor is reaching your total daily protein, so any time that helps you do that works.

How is it sweetened, and is it real chocolate?

It is made with alkalised cocoa and raw cacao, and sweetened with monk fruit, a natural sweetener, with no added sugar and no sugar alcohols.
